Senior PCMI Positions for Precision Micro Directors

Two Directors of Precision Micro, the Birmingham based photo etching specialists, have been appointed to senior positions within the PCMI (Photo Chemical Machining Institute).

Bob Crutchley, Director, has been appointed Vice President of the Institute, while Anthony Marrett, Precision Micro’s Managing Director has recently taken the position of Co-chairman of the PCMI’s European Chapter.

“Precision Micro and its antecedents have been staunch and active supporters of the PCMI for many years,” said Anthony Marrett. “Having two representatives from Precision Micro appointed to senior positions within the Institute at the same time is. never the less, a great honour for the Company.”

The PCMI was founded in the United States in 1967 and has always sought to promote the understanding of the photo etching process and its capabilities. The Institute now represents the interests of the industry worldwide with member companies in 20 countries on 6 continents.

PCMI is different from most trade associations and professional societies because it represents a broad cross-section of all segments of the Photo Chemical Machining Industry's technology. It includes companies that are manufacturers and companies that are users of photo chemically machined parts, as well as companies that supply raw materials, equipment and services used to produce its products.

PCMI is undertaking the collective funding of research and development into new processes, with work being carried out at a number of universities around the world. The Institute also encourages and facilitates the international sharing of best practices and technologies and enables benchmarking across the industry.

In short, the purpose of PCMI is to encourage and monitor developments in photo chemical machining and to address problems that may affect the process or the industry throughout the world.
